Universal Design Group

Universal Design Group (Pvt)Ltd, (UDG) Consulting Engineers, is a registered professional civil and structural engineeringconsulting firm. The firm was originally formed in 1999 as Centro Project (Pvt) Ltd, which later entered into partnership with UWP of South Africa. The former Directors of Centro Project, have now partnered other engineers with a huge wealth of experience from Zimbabwe and the region to form a formidable firm of consulting engineers.

The shareholding of the firm is 100 % Zimbabwean. The firm is registered with the Zimbabwe Association of Consulting Engineers ( ZACE) and the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe ( ECZ) in the fields of Civil and Structural Engineering.

Our Directors

Abed Chirume

Eng. Abed Chirume graduated from the University of Zimbabwe with a Bsc Degree in Civil Engineering in 1991. He joined Water and Rural Development Services as a trainee Engineer. In 1994 he moved to Nhowe & Associates to begin a structural career. After working for a few different consulting firms, Abed established Centro Project (Pvt) Ltd Consulting Engineers in 2001 and was the Managing Director until 2008. Worked on numerous Government and Private sector projects, and has over 30 years working experience.

He then joined TTCS/ Mothibatsela & Associates Consulting Engineers in 2008 as a Senior Design Engineer and was appointed Director the following year. In November 2011, he became the Managing Director and Country Manager of
UWP Consulting Zimbabwe. Currently he is the managing Director of UDG Consulting Engineers. Eng Abed Chirume is a member of ZACE, a fellow of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE) and is registered with the ( ECZ).

Samuel Matete

Samuel Matete worked for Insiza Rural District Council from 2003 until 2007 and joined the Ministry of Rural Housing and Social Amenities where he worked as Chief Engineer until end of 2008. He joined Thiite Rubble Screeners and worked as Site Engineer until 2009. In 2009 he worked for China Civil Engineering Construction as Materials Engineer. He worked for
TTCS Consulting Engineers Botswana for 2 years as Resident Engineer until the end of 2011. He has a total of 19 years relevant working experience. He joined UWP Consulting Zimbabwe in 2012 as a Senior Engineer and is a Director at UDG Consulting Engineers
